PERAN MEDIA AUDIO-VISUAL DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERBICARA DAN BERPIDATO SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract

Speaking and giving a speech are crucial skills that must be honed in elementary school students because they support communication, build self-confidence, and active engagement in the learning process. However, many students still struggle to express ideas and speak confidently in front of their classmates. This study aims to investigate the contribution of audio-visual media in improving students' speaking and giving a speech using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Literature sources were collected from the Garuda Portal,Google Scholar database and the Eric with publication periods between 2016-2026. Inclusion criteria focused on studies discussing the application of audio-visual media in elementary schools, while irrelevant articles and those that were not fully accessible were excluded from this analysis. The findings of the study indicate that audio-visual media such as learning videos, YouTube, and interactive visual presentations have a positive impact on students' speaking skills, self-confidence, learning motivation, pronunciation, and public speaking skills. Several studies also found that integrating audio-visual media with learning models such as Role Playing, Project Based Learning, and Problem Based Learning can improve speaking and giving results more efficiently. Furthermore, through audio-visual media, students can better understand nonverbal communication elements, including intonation, facial expressions, and body language. Therefore, audio-visual media serves as an effective and innovative learning tool for developing speaking and public speaking skills in elementary school students. Future research is recommended to explore the long-term effectiveness of audio-visual media in digital-based learning.
