Keywords: The food poisoning incidents in the Free Nutritious Food (MBG) program in West Sumatra (October 2025), covering the Agam (104 victims) and Padang Panjang regions, represent a critical point resulting in the loss of 140 effective teaching hours. This study aims to analyze the incident patterns through pre-processing of primary news data, thematic word cloud visualization, and clinical frequency analysis. Results show a dominant vomiting symptom (94%), confirming acute gastroenteritis among hundreds of affected students. Although BPOM laboratory tests showed negative pathogens (100%), technical findings identified hygiene process failures through coliform contamination in refilled drinking water (33% of cases) and operational illegalities in the majority of Food Nutrition Service Units (SPPG). The academic impact recorded a 42% decrease in attendance, threatening learning stability. As a preventive solution, elementary school teachers are recommended to implement a 10-minute daily 6-point checklist (focusing on SLHS, serving temperature ≥60°C, and water sanitation) as a trusted gatekeeper. Implementing simple HACCP at the school level is projected to prevent 90% of outbreak risks, transforming the MBG program from a health risk into sustainable educational welfare.

Abstract

The food poisoning incidents in the Free Nutritious Food (MBG) program in West

Sumatra (October 2025), covering the Agam (104 victims) and Padang Panjang

regions, represent a critical point resulting in the loss of 140 effective teaching hours.

This study aims to analyze the incident patterns through pre-processing of primary

news data, thematic word cloud visualization, and clinical frequency analysis.

Results show a dominant vomiting symptom (94%), confirming acute gastroenteritis

among hundreds of affected students. Although BPOM laboratory tests showed

negative pathogens (100%), technical findings identified hygiene process failures

through coliform contamination in refilled drinking water (33% of cases) and

operational illegalities in the majority of Food Nutrition Service Units (SPPG). The

academic impact recorded a 42% decrease in attendance, threatening learning

stability. As a preventive solution, elementary school teachers are recommended to

implement a 10-minute daily 6-point checklist (focusing on SLHS, serving

temperature ≥60°C, and water sanitation) as a trusted gatekeeper. Implementing

simple HACCP at the school level is projected to prevent 90% of outbreak risks,

transforming the MBG program from a health risk into sustainable educational

welfare.
