ANALISIS KANDUNGAN METABOLIT SEKUNDER PADA DAUN KELOR (MORINGA OLEIFERA) MENGGUNAKAN UJI FITOKIMIA DI LABORATORIUM BIOLOGI UNIMED
Abstract
Moringa oleifera leaves are widely used as traditional medicine due to their rich nutritional content and various bioactive compounds. This study aimed to identify the secondary metabolites present in Moringa oleifera leaves through phytochemical screening. The leaf samples were extracted using the maceration method with 70% ethanol as the solvent, followed by qualitative tests for alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins. The results showed that the ethanol extract of Moringa oleifera leaves tested positive for alkaloids, indicated by the formation of a white precipitate with Mayer’s reagent and a reddish-orange precipitate with Dragendorff’s reagent. In contrast, flavonoid and saponin tests showed negative results, as evidenced by the absence of color change and stable foam formation, respectively. These findings suggest that Moringa oleifera leaves contain alkaloid compounds that may contribute to their biological activities and potential medicinal applications. Therefore, Moringa oleifera has promising potential as a natural source of bioactive compounds for health-related purposes.
