ANALISIS PENGGUNAAN TEKNIK BRAINSTORMING DALAM MENINGKATKAN KREATIVITAS SISWA KELAS V PADA PEMBELAJARAN IPA DI SDN 108 RANTAU TENANG

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of creative thinking skills among fifth-grade students in science learning, particularly on the topic of the Properties of Light at SDN 108 Rantau Tenang. This condition was indicated by students’ limited ability to express ideas, provide various answers, and find alternative solutions to problems. It was also influenced by the use of conventional teaching methods that were still teacher-centered, causing students to be less active in the learning process. This study aimed to determine the effect of using the brainstorming technique on improving the creative thinking skills of fifth-grade students in science learning on the topic of the Properties of Light. The study employed an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The population consisted of 48 students, divided into two groups: an experimental class of 24 students who received learning through the brainstorming technique and a control class of 24 students who received conventional instruction. Data were collected through pretests and posttests and analyzed using descriptive statistics and a t-test. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 86.54, while that of the control class was 74.13. The t-test result showed a t-count of 9.35, which was higher than the t-table value of 1.68, with a significance value of 0.000. Therefore, H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. It can be concluded that the brainstorming technique had a positive and significant effect on improving students’ creative thinking skills.
