ABSTRACT

This study aims to analyze the effect of Industrial Internship (PKL) on the soft skills capabilities of Machining Engineering students at SMKN 2 Tangerang Regency. A quantitative correlational approach was employed with a sample of 84 12th-grade students selected via total sampling (from an effective response rate of 99 distributed questionnaires). Data were collected using closed-ended questionnaires on a 1–5 Likert scale, which were tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. Descriptive results indicated that both PKL () and soft skills () fell into the "very good" category. Simple linear regression analysis proved that PKL had a positive and significant effect on students' soft skills (). The correlation coefficient () indicated a moderate relationship, with a coefficient of determination () of , while the remaining  was influenced by unexamined variables. These findings support Experiential Learning Theory and Behaviorist Theory, showing that direct industrial exposure facilitates habituation and reinforcement of work character. The practical implication emphasizes the need for strong synergy between schools and industry partners to optimize student placement and mentoring during internships.
