Abstract

Improving educational quality is one of the major challenges faced by Islamic educational institutions in responding to contemporary developments and societal demands. One approach that can be employed to achieve sustainable quality enhancement is the implementation of continuous improvement as a core principle of Total Quality Management (TQM). This study aims to examine the implementation of continuous improvement in Islamic education, identify the factors that support and hinder its implementation, and analyze its relevance to Islamic values. This research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected through documentation studies of various academic sources, including books, journal articles, previous research findings, and other relevant documents. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of continuous improvement in Islamic education is carried out through continuous processes of planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up actions across various aspects of educational management. Its success is influenced by visionary leadership, stakeholder participation, supportive organizational culture, and the effective use of technology. Furthermore, the concept of continuous improvement is closely aligned with Islamic values, particularly ihsan (excellence), itqan (professionalism), muhasabah (self-evaluation), and islah (improvement), which emphasize ongoing efforts toward quality enhancement. Therefore, the implementation of continuous improvement can serve as an effective strategy for developing a sustainable quality culture in Islamic educational institutions.
