ANALISIS DAMPAK PENGELOLAAN LIMBAH AIR TERHADAP EKOSISTEM DI SEKITAR BALAI BESAR PERIKANAN BUDIDAYA LAUT LAMPUNG
Abstract
Wastewater management in aquaculture plays a crucial role in efforts to maintain the quality of aquatic environments while ensuring the sustainability of surrounding ecosystems. In this study, the primary focus is on analyzing the impact of wastewater management on the environment surrounding the Lampung Marine Aquaculture Center. Additionally, this study examines the potential ecological disturbances that may arise due to nutrient accumulation resulting from these aquaculture activities. This research was conducted in April 2026 using a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through direct observations at aquaculture units and semi-structured interviews with stakeholders responsible for aquaculture management and environmental aspects. The results of the observations indicate that the primary waste consists of uneaten feed and fish feces, which have the potential to increase pollution loads in the water. To address this, the waste is channeled into a wastewater treatment system that employs several stages: sedimentation, anaerobic and aerobic biological treatment, followed by a disinfection process before final discharge into the environment. This treatment system has proven effective in significantly reducing pollutant levels, although
dissolved nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus can still affect water quality if management is suboptimal. Such conditions indirectly increase the risk of eutrophication and excessive algal growth. Thus, wastewater management through a wastewater treatment system plays a crucial role in mitigating pollution impacts; however, regular evaluation and monitoring remain necessary to maintain water quality and the ecological balance around aquaculture areas.
