KETIDAKADILAN GENDER DAN FENOMENA PSK DI KABUPATEN SIKKA: ANALISIS GENDER ORDER R.W. CONNELL TERHADAP PENTINGNYA PENDIDIKAN BAGI PEMBERDAYAAN PEREMPUAN
Abstract
This study discusses gender injustice and the phenomenon of commercial sex workers in Sikka Regency through the analysis of the gender order theory of study is based on the reality that social constructions regarding men and women continue to create unequal divisions of labor. Women are often placed in subordinate positions, considered weak, and restricted in access to employment and public spaces. These conditions lead many women to experience economic pressure, social discrimination, and exploitation in the workplace. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were obtained through literature studies, news analysis, and an examination of Oder order theory to understand the relationship between gender construction, poverty, and the phenomenon of prostitution in Sikka. The findings indicate that the phenomenon of commercial sex workers is not solely caused by economic factors, but is also influenced by gender injustice, limited education, lack of employment opportunities, and patriarchal culture that restricts women. Education, skills training, and government policies that provide equal opportunities for women are important steps in reducing discrimination and preventing the exploitation of women.
