EFEKTIVITAS MEDIA VIDEO PEMBELAJARAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN SKI MATERI SUNAN KALIJAGA PADA KELAS V MI
Abstract
Teachers are now widely using digital learning media to make lessons more engaging through a combination of audio and visuals. Unfortunately, many students still struggle to understand lessons on the History of Islamic Culture due to monotonous teaching methods. This situation is often encountered in elementary madrasahs, as students are still at the concrete operational stage of cognitive development, which requires visual aids to comprehend concepts. This study aims to determine the extent to which educational videos can help improve students’ understanding. The study was conducted using a literature review method, which involves collecting and analyzing information from books, journals, and reliable articles. As a result, video content has proven to make historical explanations feel more vivid and easier to understand. Students become more engaged, don’t get bored as quickly, and are more eager to ask questions. Visualizations of historical figures, places, and events in short clips help them imagine the context of the past. Additionally, the combination of narration, music, and illustrations reinforces retention of the material. Teachers also benefit because they no longer need to explain the same concepts repeatedly in the same way. Thus, videos are worth considering as a supplement to textbooks in learning activities. Of course, the content must be tailored to the students’ age and ability to ensure that the moral message is effectively conveyed. Collaboration between educators, parents, and media developers is essential to produce educational and enjoyable content. A simple evaluation after using the video is also important to measure the extent to which students’ understanding has improved. Moving forward, this approach is expected to be applied to other history topics. Small steps like this can mark the beginning of positive change in religious education in elementary schools. Through a more engaging approach, students will not only memorize facts but also come to love the cultural heritage of Islam in the Indonesian archipelago.
