Abstract

This research is motivated by several reasons, namely as follows: (1) Writing is considered a difficult language skill, because writing requires mastery in every element of language. (2) Educators lack motivation for classroom learning. (3) The low level of students in writing the text of the observation report. (4) Students lack motivation and an active role in writing. (5) The text of the observation report is still considered a text that is difficult to learn, because students still find it difficult to express ideas or ideas that they see or what they observe. So there are still many students who do not understand how to write a good and correct observation report text in accordance with the correct and appropriate structure and linguistic rules. Therefore, researchers are looking for solutions to the problems above through learning to write text reports on observations using the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model. The purpose of this research was to: describe the use of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model for students in class X MIPA 2 SMA PGRI 1 Subang, describe the skills of writing the text of the observation report on students in class X MIPA 2 SMA PGRI 1 Subang. Describe the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model on the writing skills of observation report texts in class X MIPA 2 students at SMA PGRI 1 Subang. This study uses an experimental method with Pre-Experimental Designs, there are several types, namely One-shot case study, One-Group pretest-posttest, and Intact-group Comparison. The data used by the researcher is the One-Group Pretest-Posttest. The research data was obtained from the results of interviews, observation of the performances of researchers and students as well as, questionnaires, and giving essay tests in the form of an initial test (Pretest) and a final test (Posttest). Based on the results of average calculations using Excel 2016 and SPSS 23. Writing skills on observation report texts in class X MIPA 2 as an experimental class using the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model. Getting the average value of the initial test (Pretest) is 69.28 and the final test (Pottest) is 82.92 and it is found in the acquisition of the average test score in class X MIPA 2 By using an experimental class that uses the Contextual Teaching and Learning learning model (CTL). In other words, the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model has proven to be effective and influential in writing observation report text skills for students in class X MIPA 2 SMA PGRI 1 Subang Academic Year 2022-2023
