IMPROVISASI PUBLIC SPEAKING SISWA MELALUI PERSONAL BRANDING METODE ELAVATOR PITCH DALAM PIDATO PERSUASIF

Abstract
This study aims to explore the effect of using elevator pitch method on students' public speaking improvisation in the context of persuasive speech learning. Elevator pitch is a communication technique that allows individuals to convey ideas briefly and interestingly in a limited time, so it is expected to improve students' speaking skills. This study involved 28 grade IX students at a senior high school in Merangin Regency, Jambi Province who participated in a series of speech exercises using elevator pitch. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and questionnaires filled out before and after the application of the method. The results showed that students experienced significant improvements in their improvisation ability, confidence, and communication skills. Students reported that the method helped them in the process of self-branding, where they could highlight their uniqueness and personal strengths when speaking in front of an audience. Although some students faced challenges in summarizing ideas in a short period of time, support from teachers and consistent practice proved effective in overcoming these obstacles. This study concludes that the integration of elevator pitch in persuasive speech learning can be an effective strategy to improve students' public speaking skills. In addition, this study provides recommendations for the development of a more relevant and applicable curriculum, as well as the importance of training for teachers to support the application of this method in the learning process.
