ANALISIS INTERFERENSI BAHASA PADA MAHASISWA PGSD DITINJAU DARI LATAR BELAKANG PENDIDIKAN SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATA
Abstract
Language interference is a linguistic phenomenon commonly encountered in the
language learning process in multilingual countries such as Indonesia. This study
aims to describe the forms of language interference among PGSD students and
examine differences in its patterns based on their senior secondary educational
background. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected
through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research subjects
were determined through purposive sampling from students with SMA, SMK, and
MA backgrounds. Data analysis followed the stages of data reduction, data display,
and conclusion drawing, reinforced by source and technique triangulation. The
findings reveal that interference occurs simultaneously across four levels:
phonological, morphological, lexical, and syntactic. Students from MA backgrounds
are more susceptible to phonological interference due to the dominance of regional
and Arabic languages, SMK graduates tend to experience greater lexical
interference owing to habitual use of technical vocabulary, while SMA students are
influenced by regional dialects at the syntactic level. These findings imply the
necessity of designing Indonesian language instruction that is adaptive and
responsive to the diverse linguistic backgrounds of PGSD students from the very
first semester of their studies.
